Just finished reading your Gaining Ground . Really enjoyed it. I appreciate your insights into both animal and human nature that really add richness to your stories. It wasn’t till I almost finished the book that I realized how, in many ways, it reminded me of James Herriot’s books, such as All Creatures Great and Small, etc. In case you haven’t read him I’d strongly recommend them to you.
Glad to see that your farming seems to be going well. I hope to visit the farm if we make it back to Virginia from Alaska.

  Thank you, Larry! Yes, others have made this comparison as well, which lead me to read All Creatures Great and Small for the first time last year. In general, I try not to read other lyrical food or farming books so as not to be influenced by their style. It was indeed a very entertaining read!
