Smith Meadows is looking for 2 people to fill positions at our Farmers Markets. The first is for an experienced salesperson to sell our meats, eggs and home cooked food. Work for a sustainable farm selling cuts of beef, pork and lamb, hand made pasta and other prepared foods, EVERY SATURDAY, YEAR ROUND at Falls Church Farmers Market (7AM to 1:30PM). In addition we are looking for an experienced sales person to rotate throughout all of our six markets as a substitute (Falls Church, VA; Alexandria, VA; Washington, DC; Arlington, VA and Takoma Park, MD).
The pay is $100 per market, plus a commission for achieving weekly sales benchmarks. Knowing how to cook grass-fed meats and eating locally produced food is a plus. Knowing the benefits of sustainably produced, local food is a must. Positive attitude & personality, as well as excellent work ethic are required. Experience working retail and customer service on a farm or in a food related business is preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs easily. You must have reliable transportation to the market, and have an excellent attendance record from previous jobs. We are not looking for cookie cutter responses. Creative thought is required.
The Falls Church market is located just minutes from Washington, D.C. and Metro accessible from the east and west Falls Church Metro stations (City Hall Parking Lot 300 Park Ave. Falls Church, VA 22046).
