We knew how tasty Smith Meadows Half Smokes would be, and now thanks to Northern Virginia Magazine so will hundreds of hungry market goers.  In an article under the banner “Gut Check” we are touted as a bastion of locavorism and immediate gratification.  The smell of grilling meats and hot apple cider are hard to pass up on a winter day as you stroll past farmers’ stalls shopping for your weekly groceries.

Smith Meadows Grill at the Arlington Courthouse Market on Saturdays

Humans rarely adhere to the advice, “Never Shop Hungry.” With our menu of half smokes, burgers, breakfast wraps, ham biscuits, empanadas, soups and chili no one need ever go hungry at market again.  Rashid and his wife Aminah come to Arlington Courthouse on Saturdays and Takoma Park on Sundays.  Because they are so busy preparing half-smokes, egg &/or sausage wraps and burgers, Smith Meadows Kitchen makes batches of soup, pasta bakes, ricotta bakes, ham biscuits and empanadas that are hot and ready to hand out to eager patrons.  There have always been delicious things to eat at farmers market, but it is a challenge to make a complete meal from baked goods, cookies and breads which are the most common grab and eat items you see.  Smith Meadows Grill can offer a complete meal so that you can finish your shopping and move on to the next errand of your day without just a sugar rush to fuel your way.

If you like to plan your weekend ahead of time, you can always check our Food Cart Menu on our web page.  Updated by Thursday of every week, this page gives a description of all our tasty meal options that will be on hand at Arlington and Takoma Park for the weekend.  Although the cart will be taking a break on December 25th and January 1st, it will be at the Takoma Park Farmers Market on December 26th and January 2nd.  Come check it out for a delicious meal as you shop for locally grown produce and meats.
