Participants of Farm Day will have a chance to see our healthy chickens, turkeys, pigs, beef cattle, sheep and goats up close in their natural environment. We’ll enjoy our springtime pastures and meadows on a long walk around the animals’ homes. After a walking tour of the farm, we will have a catered lunch featuring our pork and beef barbeque specially smoked by Mr. B’s BBQ of White Post, VA.

Farm Day 2010 Guests learn about making ravioli

In the afternoon there will be cooking demonstrations centered around our fresh pasta business where we use our free-range eggs, local farm produce, organic flours and our creativity to make the best home cooked products. Tours will be given of the 1824 Federal style house that is Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast. The manor house has been open to guests since 1999, but it has housed friends and family for almost 200 years.

It has been a delightful day for the entire family and our guests since 2009. We will host another Farm Day next year so that more people can learn about how a modern sustainable farm not only survives, but also thrives. Come and learn about your food. See how animals are raised in an environment that benefits their health, your health and the earth.  Check back with us in January 2012 for more details on next year’s Farm Day.
