Working from Home: Thai Basil in the Kitchen Garden

This year at Smith Meadows Kitchen we planted a much more “Serious” herb garden for our cooking camp, and to have more herbs on hand for pasta, sauces and pestos.  Our production for farmers market and the store still would not be possible, however, without PVF, Waterpenny, Oak Hart, Vine Ripe, Shenandoah Seasonal and many more.  It has been great to harvest in the middle of the week so that pestos are as fresh as possible.  When the Powhatan campers arrive on June 25th they will get to pick many of their own ingredients: eggs and herbs.

Take a peak at the slide show to see the progress from last fall.
